The Year Ahead: A Time for Planning and Evaluating

Senior Connections extends best wishes to all for a successful, happy and fulfilling year in 2012. We appreciate the tremendous support received from program participants, community partners, funders and contributors last year. As we begin this wonderful New Year, we have much to celebrate. We have touched the lives of more than 22,000 individuals in some way and have provided critical services to approximately 3,500 of them. We have received another "clean audit" as in past fiscal years. We have several new staff members who have added to the tremendous talents of our Senior Connections team. We have received several new grant opportunities to integrate aging and disability service options, to expand our Public Guardian Program, to serve more caregivers with respite support and to address mobility management with more transportation services. We are thankful to the Virginia Department for the Aging, Dominion Resources, the Richmond Memorial Health Foundation, the Community Foundation, the Greater Richmond Transit Authority, the United Way of Greater Richmond and Petersburg as well as the Virginia Department of Rail and Public Transportation for these new funding opportunities. We now look forward to our continued progress during 2012. To support our vision of "greater community impact," our Board of Directors, Advisory Council and staff are embarking on a year of strategic planning and program evaluation. As the designated Area Agency on Aging for our region since 1973, Senior Connections wants to increase visibility and awareness of our programs throughout the Richmond Metropolitan area. Thank you for giving us your suggestions how to do this. We value your input. Please send to me at twatson@youraaa.org.
