2013 Empty Plate Luncheon and Awards Celebration
Thanks to Sponsors, Award Honorees, Nominators and Supporters

On October 9, 2013, we will hold our 10th Annual Empty Plate Luncheon and Awards Celebration at a new location, Trinity Family Life Center. All previous events have held at the Science Museum of Virginia (SMV). We appreciate the SMV’s consistent support of our successful events that have been made possible through the generosity of our sponsors, award honorees, nominators and supporters. This year marks the 10th Anniversary of our Empty Plate Campaign. We recognize our presenting sponsors Dominion, Genworth and MH West and Company. We also look forward to recognizing past honorees, including those from 2012:
MaryEllen Cox Memorial Award for Advocacy
Mrs. Gina Simpson and Mr. Tom Silvestri

E. Harris Spindle Award for Service to Seniors
Mr. Peter Perkins (United Way of Greater Richmond, Older Adults Action Council)

Richard Hogan Memorial Award for Volunteer Service
  Mr. David Blanset

Eva Teig Hardy Award for Corporate Service
Mrs. Rita Randolph (Dominion) and Ms. Beth Ludden (Genworth)

Mary Creath Payne Leadership Award
Dr. Ayn Welleford and Dr. Peter Bolling (VCU)
With the anticipated proceeds from this year’s luncheon, we will be able to fill more empty plates for needy seniors who often have no other sources of assistance. We will be able to assist them with meals, rides, home care and other critical needs. The generosity of our contributors gives much hope for the future. Therefore, as we prepare for this year’s Luncheon, we extend special thanks to those who have already contributed to our Empty Plate Campaign. We also extend a special invitation to others who may wish to contribute to this important effort before October 9, 2013. Your contributions will enable us to reach our modest goal of $60,000.00 that is needed to fill the empty plates of older adults and caregivers in our communities. Single tickets are $50 and table sponsorships range from $500 to $5,000. Any contribution is needed and greatly appreciated. You may contribute on our website or send your checks to Senior Connections, CAAA at 24 East Cary Street, Richmond, VA 23219. Please be sure to save the date for this year’s 9th Annual Empty Plate Luncheon and Celebration on Wednesday, October 9, 2013. We look forward to having you with us. Thanks for helping us fill “empty plates” this year and into the future!
