March 2014: Planning for the Future
By hrobinson @ 10:21 AM :: 1450 Views

Senior Connections is in the midst of implementing its Strategic Plan with other planning efforts to address the future.  We have three focus areas:
(1) Visibility and Branding for the Agency, our Programs and Issues that Impact Current and Future Generations
(2) Programs and Service Priorities to Maximize Resources for Current and Future Participants
(3) Funding and Resources for Short and Long Term Sustainability of our Programs and Services

Planning efforts that support our Strategic Plan are the Commonwealth of Virginia Four-Year Plan for Aging Services, the Age Wave Plan and our Four-Year Plan for Aging Services, which will be updated this year.  We have included components of the Age Wave and Four-Year Plan in our Strategic Plan for implementation.  We are partnering with the Gerontology Department at Virginia Commonwealth University on implementation of Age Wave Plan initiatives.  Our focus is to promote coordinated transportation and mobility management to enhance the ability of residents to use available resources.

Our Four-Year Plan for Aging Services is a description of services that allow seniors to remain at home. The Plan also is an assessment of current and future needs for home and community services in support of older adults and caregivers.  We will convene public input sessions on the Four-Year Plan in June as part of our planning activities.  Sessions will be held at community locations and dates will be announced in April.

We invite you to join us at these sessions to learn about our future plans to address service needs, maintain existing programs and maximize resources.  We welcome you input and suggestions.  Thank you for your support and interest.
