Area Plan for Aging Services

Every four years, Senior Connections prepares an Area Plan for Aging Services that is updated each year. We are updating the last year of our Plan for the period of October 2011 to September 2015. As we reflect on the importance of this time period, we know that our older population is continuing to grow at a rapid pace. By the year 2030, our region's population of people age 60 and over will increase by almost 50% from the 170,000 that we have today. As this population group grows, more of the Baby Boomer population (people like me who were born between 1946 and 1964) will also grow and more of us will be retiring. We will also have more caregivers who will be supporting our older population. In our Four Year Plan for Aging Services, we address our current age wave preparedness and strategies for meeting needs of our growing population. We also describe ways to use and recognize older persons as valuable resources in our communities. Finally, we look at ways to leverage funding to meet identified service needs. We welcome your input and suggestions. Please tell us what you see as ways to serve our current older citizens, address the needs of baby boomers, support caregivers and use our various resources effectively. We look forward to your comments. Thanks for your input and concern.
