We appreciate the tremendous support received from program participants, community partners, funders, contributors and supporters during 2014. Senior Connections extends best wishes to all for a successful, happy and fulfilling year in 2015. We are grateful for the support we will receive in 2015. As we begin the New Year, we are reflecting on our rich history and planning for the future as we give thanks. We touch the lives of more than 23,000 individuals each year in important ways and provide critical services to approximately 3,600 seniors annually. As in the past 12 fiscal years, we have received another “clean audit” without findings or recommendations for period of October 2013 to September 2014. We have several new staff members who complement the tremendous talents of our Senior Connections team. We are extremely pleased to have a successful partnership with the Gerontology Department at Virginia Commonwealth University for the Age Wave Coalition. There are several additional funding and partnership opportunities. We are thankful to the Virginia Department for Aging and Rehabilitative Services (DARS), Corporation for National and Community Service, Dominion, Genworth, Bon Secours, the Richmond Memorial Health Foundation, the Community Foundation and the Jenkins Foundation, the Greater Richmond Transit Authority, the United Way of Greater Richmond &Petersburg as well as the Virginia Department of Rail and Public Transportation for continued funding support and guidance. We extend thanks to all of our donors and supporters. We are thankful for another successful Empty Plate Campaign that has raised more than $80,000.00 to help us meet the critical needs of community seniors. Special thanks are extended to all of the sponsors and supporters of the Empty Plate Campaign. We recognize the Program Sponsors: Bon Secours and Care More, as well as our Presenting Sponsors: Dominion, Genworth, Bon Secours, Trinity Family Life Center, M.H. West & Company, the title sponsor-School of Allied Health Professions, Virginia Commonwealth University and all others. We now look forward to our continued progress during 2015 and beyond. To support our vision of “greater community impact,” our Board of Directors, Advisory Council and staff continue to implement the Five-Year Strategic Plan (2012 to 2017). As the designated Area Agency on Aging for our region since 1973, Senior Connections wants to increase visibility and awareness of our programs throughout the Richmond Metropolitan area. Thank you for giving us your suggestions about how to do this. We value your input, which you may send to twatson@youraaa.org. We will consider your suggestions as we prepare our new Four-Year Plan for Aging Services that will be completed in July 2015. Thanks and best wishes!
