Four-Year Area Plan for Aging Services

Every four years, Senior Connections prepares an Area Plan for Aging Services that is updated each year.  We are developing our new Plan for the period of October 2011 to September 2015.  As we reflect on the importance of this time period, we know that our older population is continuing to grow at a rapid pace.  By the year 2025, our region's population of people age 65 and over will increase by almost 50% from the 170,000 that we have today.  As this population group grows, the Baby Boom population (people like me who were born between 1946 and 1964) will also grow and more of us will be retiring.  We will also have more caregivers supporting our older population.  In our Four Year Plan for Aging Services, we will address age wave preparedness and strategies for meeting the needs of our growing population.  We will also describe ways to recognize older persons as valuable resources in our communities.  Finally, we will look at ways to leverage funding to meet identified services needs for seniors, persons with disabilities and caregivers.  We welcome your input and suggestions.  Please tell us what you see as ways to serve our current older citizens, address the needs of baby boomers, support caregivers and use our various resources effectively.  We look forward to your comments.  Thanks for your input and concern.
