The Money Management Program assists seniors age 60 and over who are capable of making financial decisions and signing their personal checks. This in-home financial management service provides one-on-one check writing and bill paying services to assist with managing personal finances, and provides protection from exploitation.
Money Management enables individuals to live independently and with the peace of mind that their bills are paid in a timely fashion.
Bill Payers perform Check Writing and other routine financial tasks.
Representative Payees offer a full range of checking and bill paying services for people who qualify.
Seniors may use the Money Management Program to get help with:
- Creating a filing system
- Preparing a budget
- Ensuring bills are paid in a timely fashion
- Reading and interpreting billing statements
- Writing checks for the client’s signature
- Balancing the checkbook and reviewing bank statements
- Sorting through bills to eliminate duplicate statements or exploitative information
Money Management counseling is provided on a sliding fee scale based on a client’s income level and fees are waived for the most needy clients. To participate, clients must use one checking account specifically for paying routine monthly bills and expenses, have direct deposit of their income and must maintain a balance not to exceed $3,500.
